The game saw stellar pitching from Austin Jordan who went 3 innings and in relief came John-Michael Boswell holding the Warriors to only 3 runs.

In game two the Sting just could not hit away from the Red Hawks (Kansas) gloves and not to mention just plain horrible officiating by the 12u umpire. Nevertheless, StingBBC fell to the Red Hawks by run rule score of 10-2 in the 5th inning. Pitching for the Sting included one inning by Tyler McCain and a four inning production by Crit Williams.

Tomorrow the Sting will round out the pool play with 9am match-up with the Neosho Express (Missouri) which is currently 0-2 in their pool play.

Sting finishes runner-up in Louisiana State Championships

Lake Charles, LA - StingBBC entered the State Championship number one in power ranking and 2nd seed overall. The team suffered it's first shut-out of the year to hands of the Slidell Vipers 5-zip in the first game of pool play. In the second game of pool action the Sting swarmed Bengal Baseball by a run rule route of 12-4 in five innings. Heading into the elimination round StingBBC was seeded 7th overall.

After tearing through the three elimination games: 8-0 run rule of the Capitol City Cubs which saw a complete game thrown by Austin Jordan, a 1-0 nail biter win over the Vermillion Vipers which featured a gun-slinging duel and complete game performance by Tyler McCain, and another run rule performance of the Rayne Heat (11-3) which included a single homer by Tyler McCain.

Game 4!!! Not meant to be... With the Thibodaux Thunderbolts jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead the Sting never was able to muster their bats for a rally. Having bases loaded and no outs in both the 5th and 6th inning and with the heart of the line-up at the plate was not enough to tip the win to their favor. A true "heart breaker" to say the least.

Sting back atop of RANKings!!!

Well there has been many happenings for TEAM Sting over the past 20 days... Sting Baseball hit a wall in Baton Rouge with the completion of the "Baton Rouge Open V" tourney. For the first time this season Sting Baseball was "one and done" after being eliminated by the Baton Rouge Astro's.

Off the heels of the Baton rouge tourney Sting entered into the "City of Lights" tournament in Natchitoches, LA. For some of the team members this was an opportunity to show off their skills to a home crowd.

Dropping the first game in seeding pool play, Sting tore threw the competition for the next three games; which included an 8-0 victory in the tournament championship game. Seeing the return of the 'power-style' hitting was a very welcoming sight to all...Way to chalk another tourney win boys!

BACK ON TOP! Sting Baseball Club is back atop the state and national rankings after being dropped back down to the "AAA" classification. Now back, the Sting will head to Lake Charles, LA to compete in the Governors Games being held this weekend. Stay tuned to find out how they here at "the Hive". Good luck boys!!!

Thunder Rolls: Sting drops MVP Tournament Championship Game

Sting Baseball club headed into championship Sunday as the number one seed after sweeping their pool play opponents on Saturday (23-3 totals). In semi-final play the Sting pounded the Shreveport Gents to an 8-1 victory. The action was capped off by a "in the park" homer by Brian Metoyer, a superbly placed line-drive to left field corner. Other standouts were Austin Jordan and Bryant Bowen both turning double plays in route to the victory.

The championship game match up was set once the Game Time Thunder thumped the MVP Muckdogs 10-nil. Game Time Thunder, a seasoned travel club, controlled most of the play with their "thundering" bats routing the Sting in there first ever outing between the two 8-4. Sting's starting pitcher, Jacob Walker, entered Sunday's match up poised for yet another complete game, but fate would not have it. After 3 2/3 inning he had allowed four runs on six hits. In relief for Walker was Crit Williams, who threw for two innings allowing four runs, and in to wrap things up was John-Michael Boswell allowing one hit and no runs. According to coach Scott Cooksey, "cold bats... great defense has to be followed by great offense. Our bats were not there for us in this outing". Once again, stand-out infielder Austin Jordan stepped up and delivered defensively. On a positive note the Sting improved their overall record to 15-3-1.

"Major Sting"

It has been a wild couple of weeks since we have all been together as a team and family (due to rain out). The boys have been practicing and seem to have enjoyed the short break in tournament play. Speaking to some of the player families they are all ready to hit the field, now. Let's hope so.

Our reclassification to "majors" was a real surprise this early into the season and it has only invigorated the team as a whole. The boys feel like they are ready for the challenge and have heard little to no negative comments concerning the reclassification from them. There has been some concern as to "can we complete at this level?" I feel perfectly ready to make the USSSA - Louisiana staff look like geniuses. Besides, we have the LA USSSA Watch Dog Committee working on our behalf to make sure all other teams are treated fairly. As I was told by a director, "reaching the 1200+ power ranking in just 3 tournaments grabbed a lot of attention quickly".

Looking forward to the return of tournament play this weekend!
